Alana is a Los Angeles native who moved to NYC in 2011. She graduated from NYU with a degree in Psychology in 2015 + has viewed yoga as a true-healing path + powerful practice that can cultivate overall well-being. As a dedicated yoga student + instructor, Alana has combined her passions, academic interests, and athletic background to form a unique approach to the yoga lifestyle.

She obtained her 200hr yoga teacher certification through Yoga To The People, a successful donation-based studio, and has upheld a personal yoga + meditation practice since her teenage years. She also is certified in teaching kids yoga, and has experience working with children + teens (ages 5-15), leading summercamp workshops, and overseeing afterschool athletic + team-building programs. Her longstanding passion for the culinary world has led her toward holistic nutrition + cooking with traditional ayurvedic principles. She continues to celebrate the beauty of food and her connection to it through her photography and recipes.

Her eclectic background, which originally led her to the grounding qualities of yoga, has led her to live by the idea that we are not defined by one thing, but encompass many pieces and layers; we are not just a beach bum or a city slicker, a sad person or a happy person, but rather, we can be all and many. In her yoga teaching she aims to set a space for students to bring together the many, often contradictory facets of the self, to simplify judgements and narratives by listening, paying due attention to ourselves in the moment.

"It's all about getting back to our roots --  the core of our beings."
