Adventure Awaits [August 2016]

Today, August 1, I woke up with a scattered mind. To-do's, worries, stories, people to call, but I decided to push it all aside for an hour, to run and make it to yoga with a minute to spare. By the first down dog, something in me wanted to burst as if I had been holding back tears for the past few weeks. Something wanted to explode open and I wasn't sure if it was from my heart, my throat, or just everywhere. But I stuck with the posture, hoping that I'd reach a break-through point after rubbing up against this feeling and space that I didn't like. I breathed into what was happening, and when the time came, I came to sit with eyes closed. The tears had formed but they were not yet peeking through my eyelids, and without thinking about words or meaning, I begged something somewhere to please give me a journey. "I am ready for a journey" repeated and sounded through the space of my mind, and finally I felt some clarity.

I, as a yoga article-reading nerd, came across a mantra/simple string of words to live by earlier this week that embodied the idea of letting go of what-ifs and thus, opening yourself up to falling into opportunities as they come. Bingo. So, a lot happened this past month of July-- and mostly great things! But I know for certain that adventures await this August, and my only challenge is to be open and welcoming to them.

This August I'd like to:

1. Meditate Every Day - I meditated most days and feel like I'm on the right track and balanced when I do, so I'd like to commit an even greater effort to ensuring I get to it!

2. Get Out and Yoga - I want to try new studios, meet new yogis, and make more opportunities for my future in yoga.

3. Write - I'm setting an ideal goal to write 2 articles a week!

4. Let the Ego Go and Say Yes to the Adventure. I have been overthinking opportunities, asking and having circular conversations with myself about whether or not opportunities that pop up are ones that I should take. Is it right for me? for right now? Is this good for where I want to be in the long-run? The answer is often either no or I have no idea. So instead of fretting, I'm letting go and leaning in to see where each takes me.

5. Go to More Eco + Sustainable Fashion Events - Great people doing great things keep me inspired.
